Cairo 9 day sightseeing tour includes Saqqara & Giza pyramids, Medieval Cairo and Cairo citadel, day trip to Alexandria and fun day our of Cairo to Fayoum oasis.

Getting to know Cairo

Arrival at Cairo International Airport, meeting with our representative, transfer to the hotel. Check-in at the 4* hotel on BB basis. Free time at leisure or optional Evening Nile cruise with dinner can be arranged upon request. Overnight at the hotel.

Excursion to Saqqara

After breakfast at the hotel, our English speaking guide will take you for an excursion to the ancient necropolis of Saqqara. The sightseeing tour of the plateau includes a visit to:

Step pyramid known as Pyramid of Djoser and his funerary complex, a tour from the outside. If you want to go inside the pyramid or go down into its burial chamber, you have to buy a separate ticket for each entrance.

You have a unique chance to look into the newly restored Pyramid of Unas (paid separately, free only until 11 am), which is located behind the Djoser complex, and admire its unique Pyramids' texts engraved on the walls.

We move on to the Pyramid of Teti, which you can enter. There are also several open tombs near the pyramid that you can look into.

Then we move on to the catacombs known as Serapeum of Saqqara or tomb of the sacred bull Apis (extra ticket is required to visit).

When we finish our sightseeing tour of Saqqara, let's head to the village of Mit Rahina, known in the past as Memphis, the first capital of Egypt. During this part of our tour, we will see some interesting artifacts, including the colossus of Ramses II and the alabaster sphinx statue.

Return to town for lunch at a local restaurant and back to the hotel, have a free evening at leisure.

Pyramids of Giza and Sphinx

Today we visit the Giza Plateau where the Great Pyramids are situated, Great Sphinx of Giza and its temple plus workers' tombs (separate ticket required). The tour of Egyptian Pyramids and the Sphinx takes up to 3 hours. Lunch in town at a local restaurant after the sightseeing tour will be arranged and in the afternoon optionally you can take a boat ride on the Nile before the tour to the Egyptian Museum, which is situated on the famous Tahrir Square. Here you will explore the museum's interesting world-famous collections, including the golden sarcophagi of Tutankhamun and the the Animal Mummies hall. After the tour, transfer back to the hotel.

Cairo Citadel and Old Quarter

Time to explore Medieval Cairo and its attractions. Let's go to Cairo Citadel and its surroundings. In the Citadel, the main attraction is undoubtedly Mosque of Muhammad Ali also known as the Alabaster Mosque. But in addition to that there are some interesting museums such as the Police Museum and the War Museum in the Haramlik Palace that you can visit.

Below, at the foot of the citadel is the large complex of Sultan Hassan, which includes a mosque and a madrasa. Next to it we will see the beautiful Al Refai Mosque, which you can also visit. Lunch in town at a local restaurant and transfer to Old Cairo quarters. Here we will see the ruins of the old Babylon fort, the Coptic Museum (optional visit) and several Coptic churches, plus Ben Ezra synagogue. After the tour we will be back to our hotel.

Excursion to Alexandria

Excursion to Alexandria by car. The transfer to Alexandria will take up to three hours. Here we will visit places of interest such as:
Ancient Roman Theatre and its mosaics
Qaitbay citadel
Pompey's Pillar and the serapeum
Catacombs of Kom el-Shoqafa

Optionally you can visit Alexandria National Museum or Royal Jewellery Museum.

After lunch at a local restaurant we will return to Cairo.

Hidden gems of Cairo

Today let's visit a few little-known places in Cairo, including Mohammed Ali's Palace on Rhoda Island and the Nilometer. Then transfer to Historic Cairo and walk along Al Muiz Street to Bab el-Futuh and Bab El Nasr Cairo gate. We stop at several mosques and religious complexes (which are included in the entrance ticket). Walk along Khan el Khalili bazaar and lunch in town. Return to hotel.

Journey into the desert, Fayoum oasis

Let's spend the day in nature. We will leave noisy and dusty Cairo and head out into the desert, to the nearby oasis of Fayoum. The oasis is situated only a hundred kilometers far from the pyramids of Giza, so it won't take long to get there. We will visit the desert around the oasis and admire the following natural landmarks:

- Valley of the whales, here the remains of ancient fossil whales spread out in the desert along for 4 km path.
- Wadi El-Rayan protected area, which has the only waterfalls in Egypt.
- We'll walk through the valleys and try sand boarding ride from the dunes.
- Jeep tours to the Magic Lake, where you can swim on a hot summer day.
- A short stop at the waterfalls of Wadi al-Rayyan.

After traveling through the desert we will stop in a Tunisian village where we will have lunch in a local restaurant and see local artisans and their products, mostly pottery. Afterwards we will drive back to Cairo. Overnight at your hotel in Cairo.

Baron Empan palace

Today we will go to Heliopolis and visit a very unusual place, Baron Empen's Palace. After we will stop at a big shopping mall and spend a couple of hours shopping around.

Free day in Cairo

On the day of your departure, check-out the hotel before 12 o'clock. Our driver will pick you up at the hotel reception 3 hours before your flight and take you to Cairo International Airport.
