Cairo to Siwa oasis tour

Pick up in the early morning from your Cairo hotel. Transfer by a comfortable a/c vehicle to Siwa oasis. Siwa is one of the most remotes oasis in Egypt. The distance from Cairo to Siwa is approximately 800 km, the journey may take up to 10 hour. Upon arrival in the oasis we will check in our cozy ecolodge (Mountain Camp ) and have some rest. Afternoon visit to Cleopatra’s Pool for refreshment, a swimming pool fed by a natural hot spring. Then we will explore the Temple of the Oracle and some other nearby ruins, meet a picturesque sunset at Fatnas island and return back to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

Discovering Siwa oasis

After breakfast in our hotel we will go to explore the following sights of the oasis:

- Shali fortress or the old city - The remnants of the 13th century Shali fortress stands in the center of Siwa. Its a large complex of homes where hundreds of people used to live.

- El-Mawta mountain or the mountain of the death is the place where wealthy people built their tombs. Most tombs are from the Ptolemaic and Roman times. One of the tombs you can visit there (optionally) belongs to Si Amun, probably a Greek merchant, it has beautiful paintings of Egyptian gods and goddesses.

Other tombs of interest are:
the tomb of Mesu Isis with beautiful pictures of Isis and Osiris and 21 cobras that guard the entrance
the tomb of Niperpathot has simple paintings with red ink that display daily life routines
a small tomb with a painting of Sobek, the crocodile god.

-The Siwa House Museum is located in the heart of Siwa Oasis. It was built in the style of the old Siwa House and tells visitors the history of the city, how its inhabitants lived in the past. Only here you can see traditional handicrafts, clothing, pottery and silverware of locals.

After lunch we will move to El-Dakrour mountain. You can climb the mountain for beautiful views over the oasis and the desert. Then proceed to a hot spring for swimming and come to the Mountain camp for dinner. After return to our ecolodge for overnight.

Salt lakes and Great Sand sea safari tour

Let's get our breakfast and move to the salt lakes area to swim there. After we get lunch some jeep safari into the Great sand sea. Visit to Bir Whahid which consists of a hot spring and a cold lake and a dune driving with sand-boarding activities as a part of our desert adventure.
