Good to know
- There are many pyramids you can visit in Cairo. The most popular are the Pyramids of Giza, Saqqara Step Pyramids and pyramids in Dahshur. All these pyramids can be reached on one day tour from Cairo hotel.
- When you visit any of the pyramids area bear in mind that it is an open plateau and it is hot most of the time, so a hat/cap or a scarf may be needed not to get a sunstroke.
- Always take with you an extra bottle of water as there will be no shops to buy anything on the way to the remote areas of Dahshur or Saqqara.
- It is recommended to visit pyramids in the first part of the day before the heat and crowds.
- Saqqara opens at 6 am and you can visit many tombs and pyramids in the area.
- Extra tickets will be needed to visit most of tombs there. Entrance tickets to the tombs and pyramids you can only buy at the ticket office which is situated at the bottom of the necropolis. Ask there what you can visit and the timing before purchasing a ticket.
- There are 2 pyramids in Dahshur, you can enter inside both of them, entrance fees are included in the main area ticket price.
- Entrance inside the Great Pyramid of Giza costs 440 LE.
- In Saqqara you can enter inside the Step Pyramid as well as go under it to discover a burial chamber. Extra ticket is required for each visit.
