Sharm El Sheikh Snorkelling guide
Best places to snorkel in Sharm El Sheikh

Warm all the year round waters of the Red Sea attract many sea lovers especially divers, but how people who do not dive but still want to see the beauty of the marine life of the area can benefit from their Red Sea holiday? Snorkelling is the solution! Snorkelling can be practised at any Red Sea beach, even at your hotel’s beach. Most of Sharm el Sheikh hotels are built along the shore line and near famous coral reefs, so it is easy to reach some of them from your hotel jetty. For example Shark’s bay or Pasha bay, as well as Ras Kati and Ras Um el Sid. But if you are more adventurous snorkeler you can take a day boat trip to Tiran island or Ras Mohammed National park and discover even more interesting places and sites to snorkel. Ras Mohammed will introduce you to the beauty of Shark Reef and Yolanda Reef while at Tiran island beginners will enjoy with low currents and some ship-wrecks.

If you are still not a confident swimmer and just start to explore the sea, then take a land tour to Ras Mohammed park and do your first snorkelling from a shore. It is more secure but not less interesting as at the park some coral structures are close to the shore and not at much depth, so you can enjoy snorkelling around and if tired you always have an opportunity to go to the shallow waters for some rest.

While snorkelling in the sea always be aware of the dangerous creatures you might stumble upon, do not touch them and they will not hurt you. Please, get acquainted with the potentially dangerous creatures of the Red Sea before snorkelling or diving. As sharks can be also seen in the vicinity of Ras Mohammed National park it is recommended to know some facts about the sharks of the red sea.
