In the morning our guide will pick up you from your Cairo hotel and we will go to downtown to an oriental cafe-shop to have our breakfast there. On the way we will stop at one very famous shop of sweets or just an Oriental bakery and buy some traditional Egyptian buns or sweets you may like to taste. Then let’s taste some traditional Egyptian drinks. In winter it is good to drink Turkish coffee or sahlab (hot milk with starch and nuts), warm helba drink is also very popular among locals, but traditional hot karkade drink is what usually foreigners choose. In a hot summer day it is very refreshing to drink in the morning a cup of fresh lemon juice or cold karkade. Muz bel laban simply known as banana with milk is also a good choice.

After breakfast time to visit some sightseeing, so we’ll move to the National Egyptian museum and take a two hours guided tour with our guide. See, what ancient Egyptians had for breakfast the past.

Afternoon is a perfect time to experience Egyptian street food. Let’s try Koshari restaurant to taste this national Egyptian invention. There are many good restaurants in downtown that offer this kind of food. What is koshari you may ask? Koshari is actually a mixture of different kinds of macaroni with some rice, black lentil, chicken pees, fried onions and tomato’s souse. Here every one can order a plate of koshari for its taste, you can add on whatever you prefer to eat: macaroni with lentil and onions, just rice with macaroni, or rice with chicken pees, the choice is yours, in all cases it will be delicious.

After lunch we will go back to our hotel. Free evening at leisure, overnight in the hotel.

    Day 3: Discover Pyramids

Let’s dedicate this morning to traditional Egyptian breakfast. Our guide will pick up you from your Cairo hotel and let’s move to some famous Cairo streets to taste Egypt’s famous sandwiches of beans and falafel (tamiya). This is the most common breakfast for Egyptians. If you do not like sandwiches foul’ (boiled beans) can be served on a small plate instead with a loaf of traditional Egyptian bread and some pieces of pickles. Egyptian pickles are very delicious but sometimes very hot; usually it is made of carrots, small onions, hot peppers and turnip, other vegetables can be used as well. After our oriental breakfast let’s take a sit in a café-shop and have some drinks. One of the most popular drinks in Egypt is helba, but you can try karkade or lemon juice known simply as l’amoon. In a cold morning sahlab (milk with corn starch and some nuts) is a good choice to worm you up.

After our traditional Egyptian breakfast time to experience the Pyramids. Let’s have up to 3 hours walking tour of the pyramids, we’ll visit the great pyramid of Cheops, and smaller pyramids in the area, have a look inside workers tomb and wander around Sphinx’s valley temple. After our pyramids tour let’s use our chance to taste seasonal fruits juice. You can choose 1 drink from a multiple options fresh-juice shops have to offer. Here you always find fresh juice of mango, strawberry, guava, orange, carrots and others. Want something more authentic, try freshly squeezed sugar cane juice – the most popular juice among Egyptians.

Now time to go back to your hotel to get some rest before heading to get our dinner at a traditional Egyptian restaurant. And yes, Egyptians get dinner very late. Our guide will pick up you at 6 pm and you will go to an oriental restaurant with traditional Egyptian food. Here you have many choices to experience traditional Egyptian cuisine. Grilled meat and kabab is not actually the food we want to show you. Try something really Egyptian like mahshy (stuffed with rice and greens peppers, egg-plants, zucchini or vine-leaves), tagin – vegetables with meat and tomato souse, fatta- rice with meat, pieces of bread and tomato souse, there are many choices, we will help you to chose the best Egyptian food to get the full Egyptian food experience. After dinner transfer back to your hotel.

    Day 4: Medieval Cairo experience

In the morning our guide will pick up you from your Cairo hotel and we will move to a local restaurant that cooks freshly baked pies with different fillings. This is one more traditional Egyptian breakfast. We can even watch how a chef will prepare our pies. Here you can order different kinds of pies, they are like pizza but made of other kind of dough. So, you can try pie with tuna or with different kinds of cheeses, or more traditional pies with sugar, honey or some sweets inside. If you do not like sugary things plain pie is also an option. In all cases freshly baked pie will not disappoint you. After breakfast let’s move to Medieval Cairo and visit the Citadel of Saladdin. Here many interesting places are waiting for us: palaces of Mohammed Ali dynasty and several museums, famous Alabaster mosque and some less known mosques, Josef’s well and even ancient Aqueduct. Our walking tour in the Citadel will take up to 3 hour. After we move back to our area and have lunch in a local restaurant. Now time to taste oriental grills: chicken, kabab, kofta, liver and other grilled meats Egyptians like to eat and cook.

After lunch we will go back to our hotel. Free evening at leisure, optionally you can watch Sound & Light show at the pyramids, overnight in the hotel.

After breakfast let’s explore Oriental bazaars with its famous spices, souvenirs and other interesting things. We will go to one of the biggest bazaars in the Middle east known as Khan el Khalili. Here take your time and walk around, buy some souvenirs, spices, gold or any other things you may find interesting. Enjoy oriental atmosphere and authentic views of Cairo.

Today lunch we will have in one fish restaurant. Although Cairo is not that famous as Alexandria with its sea food, since there is no even sea here, but it is very famous with river fish! Cairoiners love to eat fish and the most favorite one is of course Nile river fish called “bolty”. They fry it in different ways but before marinate in spices with lemon and garlic. Today is right time to check this delicious food. By the way, fish is served in Egypt with specially cooked rise, just for fish, no other foods are eaten with this kind of rise.

After lunch we will go back to our hotel. Free evening at leisure
