There are various options to travel throughout the country as well as in the town. Prices differ whether you use public transport or choose a private taxi/limousine service.

A common way to travel within short distances around town is by minibus. It is a mini-van painted in white and blue with a sign “Sharm-el-Sheikh services”. Average cost is a couple of Egyptian Pounds (LE) per person within town and to the closer hotels. Be sure that you have small change with you. Try to avoid empty busses as they may try to charge higher taxi rates. You can stop minibus anywhere on the main roads just by making any sign. The main stop of mini-buses is Old Market (2 nd gates) and Naama Bay (in front of Jolli Ville Conference center).

Taxis are available everywhere and cheaper compared to Europe . But agree the fare before entering or you will pay more. Keep in mind that drivers are used not to have change (usually pretend), that is why it is strongly recommended to have small money (like 5 LE, 10 LE or 20 LE). All taxis in Sharm-el-Sheikh are painted in white and blue colour and have identification number written on their doors.

Keep in mind that to take taxi from Na'ama Bay to your hotel is cheaper than on the contrary.

If you are planning to visit Cairo or any other (nearest) cities on your own.
Here is the local bus companies time-table (from Sharm-el-Sheikh). East Delta buses stop in the main big cities including Dahab, Taba, Nuweiba and St. Catherine.

All buses have air-conditioning and are reasonably comfortable. The most comfortable are buses of Super Jet and 1 st class El-Gouna. The trip lasts 6-7 hours with several stops by East Delta. Around 6 hours with Super Jet without stops. And 5-6 hours by el-Gouna with 1 stop on the way for 30 minutes.

Keep in mind:

1. To travel to Cairo by bus you need FULL visa which you can get in the airport or in Marine port upon arrival. Visa costs just 15$.
2. Be ready to be several times checked by police on the way to Cairo and back, especially if you are traveling by East Delta. This is the rule.

If you want to go to Hurghada from Sharm-el-Sheikh then you can take a comfortable speed catamaran with a regular schedule departing from the main harbour in Sharm. It takes 90 minutes and coasts 40$ = 250 LE (one way).
